Contrastivism reading group
I've decided to put together a contrastivism reading group for the summer. I'll start looking for some good stuff to read soon; if anyone has suggestions, let me know. Also, anyone who's interested in participating, let me know.

Cool. I'm fairly interested in contrastivism too. I've encountered it primarily in Walter Sinnott-Armstrong's book Moral Skepticisms. It's hard to figure out exactly what his version of the view is. I know Jonathan Schaffer's got some good papers on it too. I think his version of the view is a bit clearler to latch onto. I'm not sure I could make it to such a reading group in L.A. throughout the summer, but keep us informed just in case.

Also, I read on your blog about Watson's Scanlon reading group. I'd really like to check that out as well. I have the book but haven't read much of it. I did a reading group on Scanlon's What We Owe to Each Other last summer, and he was just here at UCSB a couple weeks ago. If you can, keep us updated on the details of this Watson group too (if, of course, it's open to others).

Yeah, I'll keep you updated on the Scanlon reading group. We'll be reading through at least one of Sinnott-Armstrong's papers for the group. Thanks for telling me about his book - that's relevant to some things I want to look into.

Justin,

Hello.

I'm interested in joining the group. Where do plan on starting?

I have a (neglected) blog about contrastive knowledge, here: http://contrastiveknowledge.blogspot.com/

I'd be excited about getting involved!

I plan on trying to start around the first week of June, and meeting about once a week for as long everyone stays interested.

Poster at 12:18: You didn't leave a name or email address. If you're interested in joining, you can send me an email (jsned12 [at] gmail [dot] com), and I'll fill you in on the details once things get going.

Joel,

Thanks for the link to the blog. That will be useful to look at, since I'm new to the topic. If people who aren't in L.A. (like you, I think?) are interested in participating, I may try to set up a blog or something so that we can post thoughts online.

I'm still in the process of gathering readings, and am setting up a Dropbox account, the log-in info for which I'll send around to those who are interested sometime soon. We could use that account to upload write-ups about the reading. I'm also exploring another option or two. I'll keep everyone updated.
