The graduate students of the University of Southern California and the University of California, Los Angeles, invite graduate students to submit papers in all areas of contemporary philosophy to be presented at the fourth annual USC/UCLA graduate student conference.

Submission Guidelines:

The deadline for submitting papers is November 1, 2008. Papers should be suitable for a 25-30 minute presentation (less than 4500 words). Submissions should be suitable for blind review, and should include a cover letter and a one-paragraph abstract. Please email papers as .doc or .pdf attachments to:

University of Texas at Austin: 2009 Philosophy Graduate Conference
"Experience, Judgment, and Action"
April 17-19

Distinguished Keynotes: Peter Railton (Michigan) and Fred Dretske (Duke)
Keynotes: Mark Schroeder (USC) and David Barnett (UC Boulder)

We invite high quality papers in any area of contemporary philosophy. Authors of accepted papers will have approximately 25-30 minutes to present. Presentations will be followed by a short discussion period opened with a reply by a University of Texas at Austin graduate student. The conference will feature festivities in the evenings, including a conference party and other organized revelry.

The deadline for submissions is February 1, 2009.

Please prepare submissions in accordance with the following guidelines:

(1) Authors must be graduate (or post-graduate) students in philosophy. Co-authored papers will be considered so long as all authors are currently graduate (or post-graduate) students. Authors may submit no more than one paper for consideration.
(2) Papers must not exceed 4000 words and must be suitable for a 25-30 minute presentation.
(3) Papers must be prepared for blind review: please remove any and all potentially identifying information, such as author's name, institutional affiliation, and personal acknowledgments.
(4) Papers must be accompanied by a separate cover page (i.e., included as a distinct document). On the cover page, please include: (a) paper title, (b) author's name, (c) author's institutional affiliation, (d) author's e-mail address, (e) a word count, and (f) a short abstract of no more than 150 words.
(5) Please submit papers and cover pages as distinct e-mail attachments to jrpote@gmail.com. Although .pdf file format is preferred, .doc and .rtf file formats will be accepted as well.

The 2009 Princeton-Rutgers Graduate Philosophy Conference

We invite submissions of high quality papers by graduate students to a conference, to be hosted on March 28-29, 2008, by Princeton and Rutgers Philosophy Departments. We welcome papers of very high quality in any area of mainstream academic philosophy.

Papers accessible to a general philosophical audience will be favored.

Papers should not exceed 4000 words in length and be prepared for blind refereeing.

There will be a graduate philosophy conference at (I think) Carnegie-Mellon University (or maybe at Pitt...in Pittsburgh, anyway) on March 28, 2009.

The keynote speaker is Hartry Field from NYU.

Here is the call for papers:

All submissions of high quality will be considered. This year we encourage papers focused especially on the topics of Truth, Meaning, and Evidence. This set of themes should be construed broadly and may among other things include questions concerning scientific (anti)realism, interpretation, decision theory, concept formation, representation, identity, philosophy of science, confirmation, vagueness, and philosophical logic.

• All submissions must be prepared for blind review. The paper must have no identifying information and must include at the top an abstract of no more than 250 words.
• Submitted papers must be no more than 4000 words in length.
• All papers must be submitted electronically as a .pdf or .doc. by December 1, 2008.

November 7th and 8th

The Graduate Philosophy Club of Virginia Tech invites the submission of papers
for its 4th annual fall conference which is to be held in Blacksburg, Virginia,
on November 7th and 8th, 2008.

We welcome submissions by graduate students in metaethics, normative ethics and
applied ethics. Also welcome are papers dealing with any philosophical topic
relating to developments in ethics through the 20th Century (e.g., the
implications that cognitive psychology or evolutionary biology have for
ethics). Papers should be no longer than 3500 words, must be presentable in
20-30 minutes, and should include a short abstract (200 -250 words). Please do
not include identifying
information in the abstract or body of the paper. Instead, attach a separate
cover sheet with the submitter's name and paper title, mailing address, e-mail
